To our wonderful customers.....

Regrettably and with great sadness today we have been fined for breaching regulations. Our shop has never been closed by the authorities or stopped from trading . We do recognise issues brought to our attention and immediate action was taken at the time of the inspection to correct faults identified. Sawdust was a victim to this after so many decades.

The products held in detention were a week later released for sale for human consumption.

Months since the visit from the Council we have decided that the future looks more and more difficult for traditional butchers like ourselves especially with the new regulations that look to be coming our way.

We would like to announce our decision to cease trading as we are and thank sincerely the loyal and hopefully satisfied customers which we have had the pleasure to serve throughout these forty eight years. The enormous numbers of letters we have received have been truly overwhelming and we would share these with anyone that wished to look, the combined years of trading with these letters alone amount to several hundred and I am positive that this is only a beginning. It has been an enormous comfort to both my father and myself during this life changing of times for us all. Our customers have not only been our clients ,they have many of them been a personal part of our lives week in and week out for decades. Any letters you wish to send may be sent to the above address. We are creating a book for our character reference against all this attack. Nearly one thousand satisfied combined years already. Victor couldn?t of been that bad , could he?...And we wont mention yet his charitable donations throughout these years. Alot of people dont know these days because people have been disconnected from society....we have tried to serve the community over these years and we have had tremendous success doing so. Our customers are individuals, not numbers. The authorities have the word of the law on their side, we accept that and also that we were guilty to regulation offences. We have paid our fine and now have to leave you all with the shadow of the powers that be against us....come and read our letters of support.

It does us no favours writing this but our lives have been destroyed so we have not a lot to lose, just that we need our customers to know that we have always put their welfare first and that must be qualified by the lack of complaints throughout these years of trading. Of course problems occurred during 48 years but a man who makes no mistakes is a man who does nothing as the old proverb says.....and we did alot! with so few mistakes. The presiding magistrate noted that the level of offence was not high in this situation. And we were never closed or stopped from trading throughout, despite serving high risk establishments, i.e. the old , young or sick, which we took very seriously. The vunerable one suspects.

We hope you have all been satisfied with what we have served and indeed the service too and we thank you and will miss you all profoundly.

It has been a pleasure to serve you all. An honour.

Our little house behind the shop is small but is our home and we would welcome at any time anyone who would like to come and have a cup of tea and chat or whatever, whenever, at any time.....open house.. I live in a cottage on the green....same applies. We shall bore you to death with our letters of suport. WE HAVE LIVED TO SERVE . We are totally lost in our lives due to this attack, (even if justified according to the law..).... with no problems I seem to note. With every best wish and our most grateful appreciation.

On behalf of my father Vic, myself and Lee. Please keep the letters coming in , it will mean the world. We hope to see you all as soon as possible.

Justin Anderson.
